Niro in Denmark is just finalising a 10 million Euro investment programme
for expansion of its test centre at the Copenhagen head office. Upon
completion, the test centre will be the largest of its type in the world, with
over 35 different pilot plants available for customers to use.
The test
centre already has an extensive range of equipment and pilot plants for process
and product evaluation including spray dryers, freeze dryers, extractors,
agglomerators and first class analytical laboratory facilities. In the near
future additional equipment for use by customers in the dairy, food, and
chemical industries will be installed in order to reflect our continuously
growing technology platform.
The Niro test centre is available for
customers to further develop product properties and establish process
conditions prior to scale up to full production. The test centre is also used
by Niro customers for drying batches of product for short term projects.

The new Niro pharmaceutical test centre in Copenhagen is
operating under full GMP conditions and is approved by the Danish Medicines
Agency for the production of drugs for clinical trials. The test centre
includes various pharmaceutical process lines to provide the widest possible
range of spray drying technology for product development, realistic testing and
easy scale-up to full production size. The centre can evaluate spray drying
processes using both aqueous and organic solvent feeds.
The new
pharmaceutical test centre and the expansion of the existing drying test centre
make Niro’s test facilities in Copenhagen the most extensive and sophisticated
in the world and a valuable resource for all its customers.
