Application: Test work to obtain operational conditions and basis for design of industrial-sized NOZZLE TOWER™ and TALL FORM DRYER( systems.

Capacity: The evaporative capacity is 70-200 kg/h and the minimum feed requirement is about 300 kg.

Specification: The chamber has a 1.7 m diameter, an 8.0 m cylindrical height, and a 60 degree conical bottom with bustle. Up to 2000 kg/h of drying air is heated by a direct-fired LPG burner and has a maximum inlet temperature of 500 °C.

The feed is supplied by a Mono pump, which can be followed by a high pressure piston pump to a co-current pressure or two-fluid nozzle. Fountain nozzle atomization and counter-current air flow are also possible. Product is recovered by one-point or two-point collection and fines from cyclone or bag filter can be returned to the air disperser. A venturi scrubber also available.

The NOZZLE TOWER™ produces free-flowing, dustless powders consisting of coarse, individual beads. This co-current parallel flow dryer, with a top mounted nozzle atomization system, slowly dries the coarse spray droplets as they gently fall down the long residence time tower-like chamber.

The dried particles are separated by gravity in the enlarged conical section into a coarser, main fraction and fines collected from the exhaust air.

The coarse fraction can be cooled by air introduced into the lower part of the cone, or further dried or cooled in a vibrating fluid-bed. The fines can be recycled to the atomization zone for incorporation by agglomeration, or to the liquid feed.
